The Powerball jackpot has surged once again, reaching $950 million, the sixth-largest prize in the game’s history, after no ticket matched all numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing.
The winning numbers were 9, 12, 22, 41, 61 and the red Powerball 25.
With the prize rolling over, Saturday’s winner could choose between an annual payout of $950 million or a lump-sum cash option of $428.9 million before taxes.
“The United States has spoken loud and clear: players are ready to chase a massive Powerball jackpot,” said Matt Strawn, chair of the Powerball Product Group and CEO of the Iowa Lottery, in a press release.

Recent Winners Despite No Jackpot Hit
Although no one took home the grand prize, six tickets matched all five white balls on Wednesday, each earning $1 million or more.
The jackpot has been building since May 31, when a California player won $204.5 million. During this summer streak, 56 tickets have won at least $1 million, while more than 558 tickets scored prizes of $50,000 or higher, according to Powerball officials.
One of the Biggest Jackpots in History
The current jackpot now ranks among the largest in Powerball’s history, following the record $2.04 billion prize won in California in November 2022. Other massive jackpots include:
- $1.765 billion in California (October 2023)
- $1.586 billion split by California, Florida, and Tennessee (January 2016)
- $1.326 billion claimed in Oregon (April 2025)
How Powerball Works
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Over half of the ticket sales revenue stays within the jurisdiction where the ticket is purchased. Since its debut in 1992, the game has raised more than $36 billion for causes supported by U.S. lotteries.
Winners who select the annuity option receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments, with each payment increasing by 5% every year.
